Pre-game routine: Basic warm-up followed by a parking lot dance party.
Superstitious routine: Don't really have one.
Most memorable on field experience: When I got my first try. The muddiest game I've ever played in, and we beat UW 60-some points to 0.
Most embarassing on field experience: My first game. I was completely useless.
Most miserable on field experience: When I bruised my ribs. Made it super hard to run fast because I couldn't breathe very well.
Favorite injury: They're a pain in the ass, but I have a few burst blood vessels in my hands from getting stepped on. They re-bruise every once in a while and it looks like I got into a fist fight. I think there's only one game I haven't been taken out of with some kind of injury that made it impossible to play.
Weirdest spot to get a bruise: No spot is too weird. I'm known for having the most spectacular bruises on the team.
Grossest thing you've ever done on field: I didn't do it, but some girl actually spat in my mouth. It was pretty unpleasant.

Most memorable drink up experience (if there's one you can remember): We drank with the UC Santa Cruz girls when we went to National playoffs in New Mexico, and I don't think I've ever had more fun drinking with another team. The Michigan men's team dropped by for a while, too.
Most embarrassing drink up experience (again, if remembered): I got drunk and started dancing and then shoving whoever was dancing with me across the room. But they always came back!
Most stupid thing done during a drink up: Drinking as much as possible to distract from the fact that my knee was the size of a grapefruit, and then going camping while intoxicated.
Team beer: Busch or Coors Light
Favorite song: "If I was the marrying kind..."

This community isn't very active, but I'm hoping that it's still on peoples' friendslists, b/c I have an incident of sexism that I'd like to publicize widely. I am a member of the Iowa Rugby Union and yesterday it came to may attention that a softcore porn picture was posted on my union's home website. Upon complaint, the picture was removed and replaced with a photo of Oscar the Grouch. Obviously this is meant to convey that women ruggers are grouches for overreacting to objectification of women's bodies. In a sport that allows us to be equal under the law, I find this to be a disgusting representation of the old boy rugby attitude and exclusive of the many talented and dedicated women athletes who play rugby. Despite ongoing email conversations, the persons responsible refuse to apologize. If you are a woman rugger who thinks that this sort of representation is sexist and inappropriate, I encourage you to email them and express your opinion. Pre-game routine: basic warm-up... i try to keep to myself.
Superstitious routine: during the song, we're all huddled in a circle kicking a ball around. if the ball breaks out of the circle.... baaad luck!
Most memorable on field experience: at beast of the east, tackling the biggest bitch on the other team, preventing their try, and getting knocked out in the process
Most embarrassing on field experience: in the beginning (and still sometimes) i always used to forget to kick it when we were way back... so i would just be running with people shouting "KICK IT! KICK IT!!"
Most miserable on field experience: as a full-back, i'm the last line of defense. it's the worst feeling when you're under so much pressure, and a girl makes a break away, and you dive and miss a tackle. the worst feeling when she gets through you.
Favorite injury: my most recent one :)
